Get to know Myk Sno

Ahhh yeah, Myk Sno. Simply thinking those two words puts the mind at ease. Have you been lucky enough to catch him at Santa Fe Steakhouse or Outback Pizza? Whether solo or with K-Town’s Finest (which includes Myk’s son Jordan), Myk’s appreciation for soulful grooves and old school aesthetics is life-is-good entertainment at its best. When in Killington Myk leans towards playing it safe and sticks mostly to covers. But occasionally he drops his guard and shares one of his original compositions. No matter how it goes down, Myk makes it happen.

His cordial approach is the ideal third course after a day of snow and an evening meal. So without further ado, here’s our via-email interview with Myk.

Mark @ KYR—Fill us in a bit…Talk about Myk Sno prior to becoming part of Killington history.
Myk Sno—I am an established European artist/musician who has spent almost half my life living and performing in Europe. I’ve played in Paris, London, Barcelona, also South Africa for the World Cup. And I’ve performed with such greats as The Platters, James Brown, Joe, Usher, R. Kelly, Genuwine, and Mariah Carey.

KYR—Ok, what brought you to Killington? What got you to stay? And what keeps you coming back?
MS—I love it here. But the truth is, the Killington area is where my son lives and that is the main reason I keep coming back. My touring keeps me in Germany but I come back many times throughout the year every year. During my many times here I had the chance to meet a number of local musicians and hit the stage with them periodically. Eventually an opportunity opened up for me to grab the gig at Santa Fe last winter. I am fortunate to have been asked to return again this season. I have met plenty of wonderful people here and enjoy coming back to the friends I have made and continue to make! I’m looking forward to next season as well.

KYR—Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
MS—Sam Cooke, James Taylor, Prince and Sammy Davis Jr. to name a few. I have mostly an R&B background but love to play all types of music. I also enjoy artist like Amos Lee, James Taylor, Bob Marley, James Hunter, Stevie Wonder. I have been expanding my repertoire to add in Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and even Jimmy Buffet.

KYR—And non-musical influences?
As for off-stage influences, my father and mother, Henderson and Betty Jacobs, Martin Luther King, and John F. Kennedy  simply because they each believed in the freedom of an individual’s right to express themselves, be themselves, and most importantly to believe in themselves.

KYR—You write your own music but you also play covers, right? How does the artist in you feel about that?
MS—I prefer to perform my own music and compositions, but I also love singing the great music composed by a lot of the artists out there. Since many of them have inspired me, I see it as a form of respect to the artist when I perform covers. Sometimes I even play my son’s songs. Jordan is also a great song writer. Obviously, that doesn’t bother me at all.

KYR—What do you do in the off-season?
Killington’s off-season is prime time for me in Europe. When I leave Killington I head right back to my European gigs and touring. The day I return, I have a show with my duo Acoustik Soul. This year I will  start my tour with my group Genuine Men. If you read German, we can be found at

KYR—What’s next for Myk Sno? What should we be looking for between now and say next November?
MS—The completion and release of my next album with my band Acoustik Soul. Most of the songs are ready, just a little more work needs to be done.

KYR—How about sending out some love?
MS—Lol…I would like to send some love to all my fans all over the world and the people here in Killington for enjoying my music and supporting me. Also my musician colleagues in Europe and Killington who have been such a great experience to meet and work with. Most of all my family for believing in me and appreciating my art. And of course, my son Jordan who is finishing up his Junior year at Berklee College of Music.

KYR—Thanks Myk. Anything else?
